Evaluating the Quality of Research Partnerships

Partnership
PartnershipImage: GETTY

With this project, the KFPE aims to develop approaches on how funding organisations can easily and meaningfully evaluate the quality of the research partnerships they fund. We will develop a set of practical recommendations for donors for evaluating the quality of North-South research partnerships. Precisely, the project will develop recommendations for (a) methods for evaluation settings and (b) evaluation criteria, and will provide (c) examples of stumbling blocks, traps, and promising pathways in North-South research partnerships. These evaluation methods and criteria will be applicable in the phase of project proposal submission and interviews (ex-ante), as well as for mid-term reviews and final project reviews (ex-post). For the development of these recommendations, the project will be in close communication with Swiss donors and funding instruments, in order to know and include their needs as well as for awareness raising and results sharing. Finally, the project will conclude with recommendations for revisions of the KFPE principles.
